Digital Radio Development Bureau (DRDB) Launches New Podcast

July 14, 2006 - The latest tunes and music news from DAB digital radio stations across the country are featured on “The Inside Track”. Hosted by Xfm DJ, Marsha, “The Inside Track” features the UK’s best unsigned bands within a 10 minute weekly collection of hip hop, electro indie, RnB, rap, indie and rock, which can be heard on DAB digital radio stations.

6.7 million people, which is 13.6% of the UK adult population, have a DAB digital radio at home and 23% of DAB owners are aged between 15 and 24. DRDB chief executive, Ian Dickens states, “The youth market is the fastest growing sector buying DAB digital radios, so it’s important to tell them about programme content designed for them. Radio has to be relevant and cutting edge to compete with other new technologies, like iPods. We felt a podcast was the ideal way to sample the type of fresh, new content available on stations like Choice, BBC 1Xtra, Virgin Radio Xtreme, BBC 6 Music, and Kerrang!”
